Foundation and Early Years (2004–2007)

SONOFET was founded in 2004 in the Gzenaya industrial zone in Tangier. Its initial business was the production of plastic household bags. From the outset, the company built modular infrastructure to meet growing demand in the local and national markets, laying the foundation for rapid future expansion.
In 2007, SONOFET expanded its machinery and expanded into the automotive sector with a range of plastic films, adapting its production lines to the requirements of this sector. Improved skills and consistent production quality have allowed the company to position itself in the most demanding industrial market for plastic films and packaging.

Increased Quality and Diversification (2011–2016)

In 2011, SONOFET obtained its first ISO 9001 Quality System certification, guaranteeing compliance of its processes with international standards. This certification served as a catalyst for conquering new markets for plastic films and packaging, particularly for export.
Three years later, in 2014, the company expanded its activities into the circular economy with the launch of Techni Polymers Shore (TEZ), a unit dedicated to recycling plastic waste. This subsidiary anticipates environmental challenges and positions SONOFET as a responsible player in the recovery of secondary materials.
In 2016, SONOFET doubled its packaging capacity by expanding its plastic packaging workshop and consolidated its technical plastics sector by officially launching the Techni Polymers brand. This initiative allows it to control the entire chain, from raw material to finished product.

Regulatory Adaptation and Innovation (2017–2020)

Faced with the ban on the production of plastic bags for consumer use in 2017, SONOFET demonstrated its agility and pivoted to VCI/ESD technical bags, designed for the anti-corrosion and anti-static protection of industrial parts. This responsiveness demonstrates its ability to transform a regulatory constraint into an opportunity for innovation.
In 2020, SONOFET TAC established operations in the Tangier Automotive City (TAC) zone. It installed a new FOAM line for the production of technical foams, strengthening its position in the automotive supply chain in addition to its plastic films and packaging, and paving the way for new international partnerships.

Expansion in the TAC Free Zone (2023–2024)

2023 will see the effective start-up of the Sonofet TAC plant, significantly increasing production volumes and expanding its offering to include value-added plastic components for heavy industry.

In 2024, a new expansion in the TAC free zone will enhance its logistics and manufacturing capacity, providing more than 10,000 m² of additional space dedicated to innovative processes.

Outlook

More than twenty years after its creation, SONOFET has established itself as a key player in plastic packaging film and technical plastics in Morocco. The complementary nature of its Gzenaya and Tangier Automotive City sites, combined with a CSR policy focused on recycling and reducing inputs, ensures sustainable growth. At the dawn of new challenges – energy transition, digitalization of the supply chain and increased demand for eco-designed solutions – the company intends to continue its trajectory by focusing on research, the diversification of its ranges of plastic films and packaging and the strengthening of its technical skills.
